Marketing/Social Media Intern, Planetizen Job Opening in los angeles, California - Marketing/Social Media Intern, Planetizen Planetizen (), the leading news and information website for the urban planning, design and development community, is seeking a Marketing/Social Media Intern to assist with social media marketing and advertising campaigns. This internship opportunity will give the right candidate valuable experience in the world of Internet marketing at a popular news website. Planetizen is a one-stop source for urban planning news, commentary, interviews, event coverage, book reviews, announcements, jobs, consultant listings, training, and more. Planetizen prides itself on covering a wide number of planning, design, and development issues that is read by a diverse audience that includes professional urban planners, developers, architects, policy makers, educators, economists, civic enthusiasts and others from across the United States and around the world. Duration * Summer 2011 (June -- August, 2011) 3 months. * Requires a commitment of 12- 16 hrs. per week in Los Angeles office. * Flexible schedule. Responsibilities * Assist with social media outreach * Plan marketing campaigns * Research and approaching new advertisers * Participate in occasional editorial meetings * Brainstorm new venues for marketing Planetizen's content. * Report jointly to the managing editor and operations manager. * Create and organize media lists * Assist with some general clerical duties Qualifications * Computer and Internet-literacy is essential. Effective web searching will be a constant requirement. * Some training/experience in marketing/sales required. * Competence with Microsoft Office applications. * Basic knowledge of the urban planning field is useful. * Good writing skills and understanding of appropriate, authentic communication. * Understanding of social media like Twitter, Facebook, , Digg, is useful.
