Staff Accountant Job Opening in Deer Park, Texas - PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Reporting to the Controller, the Accountant assists the Accounting department with a variety of job duties, including creating accurate and timely financial records for the organization. This position will cross train to cover multiple functions which may include credit, collections, accounts payable, and cost accounting.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departments.
Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying information.
Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accounts.
Prepares payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers; requesting disbursements; reconciling accounts.
Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changes.
Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
Provides accounting support for mergers and acquisitions by reviewing financial information; converting data to general ledger system; obtaining supplementary information for preparing financial statements.
Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Special projects as required and other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES & SKILLS REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and 3-5 years bookkeeping or accounting experience.
Preferred Experience: Financial Analysis/Strategic Planning
Must have solid computer skills including strong MS Excel background (RentalMan experience is a plus)
Must have desire to learn about the various companies that are supported and grow in an Accounting career.
Must be able to work independently, prioritize and accomplish deadlines.
Must be able to work in a team environment to complete department assigned projects
Must have excellent problem solving skills.
Must be detail oriented and organized.
Must be able to multi-task and work on many different projects at one time.
