Patient Financial Counselor responsible for handling inquiries from patients regarding the eligibility for Medicaid. Assist applicants with required paperwork, eligibility requirements and counseling on Medicaid guidelines. Collects money owed from patients and third-party payers to ensure timely recovery of the outstanding accounts receivable.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY
High school graduate or GED equivalent including courses in Business & Finance. Extensive knowledge of Medicaid regulations required. Understanding of Hospital Patient Accounting System. Associates Degree in some business field is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
One to three years experience either as Medicaid eligibility worker or in a related position with the West Virginia Department of Human Services is preferred.
