Position Description
POSITION TITLE: MARKETING DIRECTOR
POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Marketing Director, working under the direction of the Executive Director, is responsible for the design and implementation of a comprehensive marketing strategy and plan for the Chuck Mathena Center as well as the design, placement, and distribution of a wide range of materials for the Center, performances presented by the Center, and all programs and services offered by the Center.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific responsibilities of the Marketing Director include:
Development of a comprehensive marketing plan for the Chuck Mathena Center with both short term and long term goals & objectives. This marketing plan may be developed in conjunction with an outside consultant and should address, at a minimum:
Promotion of the Center as a regional tourism attraction.
Strategies for marketing specific performances presented by the Center.
Strategies for marketing all programs and services offered by the Center including education programs, facility rentals, video conferencing, etc.
Strategies for increasing the Center?s patrons & users, both within the region
and to the group tour industry.
Implementing and managing all marketing programs for the Center including:
Comprehensive marketing strategies for all individual shows or series presented by the Chuck Mathena Center.
Design and placement of radio spots.
Design and placement of TV commercials.
Preparation of copy, photos, etc. for newspaper articles and press releases.
Design, printing, and distribution of program brochures, posters, and other printed material related to performances, programs, & services offered by the Center.
Coordinating the preparation and distribution of direct mail/email marketing and website updates for Center events and programs.
Seeking out and securing sponsorship opportunities for season programming.
Maintaining upcoming events calendar.
Attending local and regional trade shows (Better Living Show, Women?s Expo, Bridal Expo)
Working with other Center staff and tourism personnel in creating effective liaisons with other area attractions so as to establish coordinated marketing strategies and packages for the region.
Managing all administrative functions associated with marketing programs, including organization of media contacts, organization and management of appropriate filing system, accounting for marketing expenditures, etc.
Performing related duties, as assigned by Executive Director.
Managing marketing and graphic design interns.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor?s degree in marketing, communications, or related field with appropriate experience preferred. Position requires creativity along with strong organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Publisher, Word, and Outlook. Writing skills are essential, along with a good working knowledge of print, radio, television and electronic media. Experience and a working knowledge of basic graphic design principals are also required.
