Payroll Clerk Job Opening in Rock Cave, West virginia - The Payroll Clerk is responsible for performing a variety of tasks relating to the payment of employees? wages. These tasks include collecting, entering, and maintaining accurate record of employees? earnings and payouts. In addition, the individual is also required to address any disputes or discrepancies regarding payment by consulting with individual involved, verifying information and providing solutions as necessary.
Review new hire data and enter employee information into the payroll system. Record employee information, such as tax related exemptions, department and/or site transfers, and , to maintain accurate payroll records.
Review final time sheets and expense reimbursement requests for accurate calculation and completeness. Ensure that expense reimbursement forms and time sheets are properly approved by the employee?s supervisor prior to processing.
Utilize various spreadsheets and shared databases to pay or adjust Paid Time Off (PTO) and Extended Sick Pay (ESP) accruals, wage increases, pay adjustments, probationary accrual start dates, etc. Issue and record adjustments to benefit costs, PTO and ESP accruals, and employee wellness deductions as needed.
Utilize payroll and timekeeping software, initiate payroll procedures within established timeframes. Complete time sheet import and review submitted documents and data for accuracy, correcting any errors. Once finalized, issue employees? statements of earnings and deductions.
Garnish wages as required by state or federal agencies.
Complete 401(k) bi-weekly data submission, upload required information into CCWV online account, retrieve record of data submission and ensure accurate filing. Conduct annual reporting and process calculations as required by established deadlines.
By established deadlines, pay and/or file WV Unemployment tax, 941 federal taxes, state withholding, and other required reports to various agencies.
Compile reports, statements, and summaries related to pay and benefits, and submit documents to appropriate individuals, as requested.
Perform various administrative tasks as indicated by bi-weekly, quarterly and annual schedule.
Maintain confidentiality of information.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of bookkeeping theories and practices and accepted office procedures. Knowledge of basic accounting procedures.
Ability to perform a volume of numerical detail work with speed and accuracy, to make difficult mathematical computations with and without mechanical assistance (ability to operate a calculator by touch).
Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records. Must be accurate, detail oriented.
Ability to meet strict deadlines.
Ability to prepare financial and other records in a systematic, neat, legible manner.
Ability to use personal computer and software to create spreadsheets, databases.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
Knowledge of Quickbooks and its functions.
Experience and Training:
High school diploma or its equivalent, including courses in bookkeeping.
A minimum of 2+ years of in-house payroll processing and bookkeeping experience.
Associate?s degree in accounting related field is preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
