Sr. WLAN Engineer with strong Route/Switch Job Opening in Atlanta, Georgia - Role: Sr. WLAN Engineer with strong Route/Switch

Mandatory:

Need 10+ years direct experience with WLAN and Route/Switch

Primarily strong hands-on experience with Cisco based WLAN/Wireless technologies and secondarily (cut required nonetheless) strong on Cisco-based LAN, WAN as related to WLAN design, setup, security

Strong experience with Meraki wireless is equally applicable

Areas of work: Wireless design, config, troubleshooting, assessments (will tweak associated routers, switches as related to Wireless implementations)

Direct experience with wireless assessments using the Ekahau tool ideally. But, Airmagnet is ok also

Need strong WLAN architecture specifications, sizing, assessments, designs across 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac technologies, controllers, access points, WLAN cloud services

Cisco is the primary vendor skills of interest. Also Aruba, Extreme, Rukus is of interest

Network Engineer to support our clients routing, switching, network security and wireless requirements including designing, configuring and troubleshooting large scale networks.

End Client-facing to understand their business goals, requirements & recommend solutions

Daily responsibilities will include the following:

Performing as a WLAN/network Engineer for customer projects including design, implementation, testing, and support for new deployments, expansions, environment refresh and upgrades. This includes troubleshooting for all customer environments.

Create technical deliverables including wireless network assessments, capacity planning, detailed design documents, implementation plans, configurations, and change orders.

Lead technical discussions to understand business requirements and translate them into functional specifications.

Perform active, passive, and predictive wireless surveys.

Provide peer reviews of implementations, configurations, and documentation for team members.

Assist and mentor other team members with deployment or best practices.

Engage in continuous learning to stay abreast on new and emerging technologies.

Obtain vendor-related certifications, to enhance professional development and our corporate standing with our vendors.

Develop and maintain relationships with peers at vendor partners.

2-5 years of experience demonstrating a significant level of expertise in overall Cisco based Networking and related products.

Ability to demonstrate technical knowledge and consultative skills and usage of Cisco recommended best practices.

Strong communication skills.

Strong critical thinking, attention to details, complex problem solving, appropriate judgment, and decision making skills.

Ability to work end to end independently including Route/Switch configs, tweaks as necessary to complete full WLAN projects

Strong documentation experience with Visio, Word, Excel

Ambitious and goal oriented, with initiative to work until job is complete

CCNA mandatory



Preferred:

CCNP or CCIE but not mandatory. Certs are a plus but not a deal breaker

Bachelor's Degree of Arts or Sciences (Electrical Engineering or Computer Science), or equivalent experience and/or military experience.
