Cost Accountant Job Opening in Providence, Rhode island - Currently seeking a Cost Accountant for a job opportunity in the Providence, RI area. The ideal candidate will possess 2 solid years of Cost Accounting in a manufacturing environment or experience in Industrial Engineering.
Responsibilities of the Cost Accountant
Plan, study, and collect data to determine costs of each manufacturing activity and process, influencing the overall financial and operating performance of the business.
Develop and maintain a cost accounting database for each product within the order system, including Bills of Materials, labor and overhead costs.
Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost and ultimately pricing.
Analyze data collected and recording results, including but not limited to productivity and efficiencies.
Analyze actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
Record and analyze other cost information for use in controlling expenditures.
Provide creative alternatives and recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance.
Prepare monthly gross margin reports with explanations of manufacturing performance.
Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting profitability of products.
Provide cost and general ledger accounting support during the month end close process, including reporting, journal entries, account analysis and reconciliation.
Requirements of the Cost Accountant
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
Minimum of 2 solid years of Cost Accounting in a manufacturing environment or experience in Industrial Engineering
Demonstrated process focused and organized work style
Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement process improvements
Experience with oriented software systems
Experience with financial planning, analysis and forecasting Strong financial skills, forecasting skills and analytical capabilities
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Some travel will be required between our two manufacturing facilities (both US based)
Compensation of the Cost Accountant
Salary: $60,000.00 to $80,000.00 /year
