Our client, headquartered in Redmond, WA, has an immediate need for an experienced System Engineer to work as a vendor contractor (v-) on an ongoing basis with an initial duration of 1 year. Position Description System Engineer supporting 1,500 /- servers. Vendor will be responsible for maintaining production systems for employees to use from around the world. Vendor will be responsible for maintaining the smooth operation of many Windows HPC Server clusters and their associated storage arrays, networks, alerting systems and resource reservation systems. The position requires a breadth of skills including automated deployment, SQL, IIS, networking and hardware familiarity. Daily Responsibilities Monitor alerting systems for hardware failures, driver and firmware deficiencies and security updates, addressing issues as they arise Perform checklist to determine status of production facilities and troubleshoot any errors found Manage vendor relationships to effectively track warranty parts replacement and open issue status Maintain and deploy server images Escalate engineering issues as needed to team members or hardware vendors Respond to customer requests for support Troubleshoot networking, deployment and usability issues throughout the environment Coordination with Data Center staff for hands-on tasks Update and maintain documentation and team knowledgebase Update and troubleshoot team SharePoint server and customer-facing portal site. Update and troubleshoot data collection and reporting systems Required Skills 5-7 years experience managing and troubleshooting Windows Server In depth knowledge of imaging technologies and deployment techniques Proficiency in deploying and troubleshooting disk arrays Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware level errors and replacing server parts Familiarity with Cisco Switch configurations for VLAN assignment, channel grouping and port configuration In depth knowledge of TCP/IP, network routing and protocol analysis Proficiency in managing SQL servers for basic administration ? Installation, moves, backup, restore, maintenance plans 1-2 years experience managing IIS websites and application pools on production systems 3-4 years managing and troubleshooting TCP/IP networks 3-4 years managing AD objects, OUs, Group Policies, NTFS and share permissions Desired Skills MCSE or MCP certification in Windows Server, Windows Networking, IIS, SQL and/or SCOM CCNA or greater Cisco certification or coursework ITIL Foundation certification or coursework Excellent customer service attitude and communication skills Experience managing outstanding work through alerting and ticketing systems, including prioritization and delegation of work. Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly Self-starter, works well with little oversight and prioritizes own work appropriately Familiarity with Altiris Deployment Server, SCOM, SQL Reporting Services, HP System Insight Manager or VCA *** Interested parties should apply online and include an updated version of their resume and cover letter.
