You're gonna need skills:
Familiarity with modern web application frameworks and REST APIs (preferably developing them). We use Ruby on Rails, but can appreciate many other RAD frameworks.
Front-end chops with the ability to breath life into a design with HTML(5), CSS(3), and JS (jQuery). All opinions and familiarities with frontend frameworks welcome!
Strong object-oriented development fundamentals forged from working with a truly capable OOP languages
Knowledge of relational databases, data modeling, and how to write custom queries. You do not need to be a DBA, but we do have some of those MySQL things.
If you've got it, props, if not, you'll learn it soon enough:
Data analysis, reporting, and custom visualization. We have data on data and sometimes people (reasonably) want to see it not on a hard drive.
Comfort with continuous integration, source control (git), and working on the edge. We work smartly fast and are always looking for new ways to stay sneaky quick.
Tests. No, really.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science preferred and 3-7 years of relevant experience with corresponding demonstration of agency. Time served in a startup environment is a huge plus.
Most excellent team practices. You must enjoy working with others and know how to help contribute in a variety of settings including brainstorming sessions and paired programming.
Comfortable with communication. Working in a small team means having to speak up more often than not, in email, on the phone, on Slack, and via ye olde face-to-face.
Pride in playing out of position. You should be rarely rattled and enjoy maneuvering a multitude of technologies.
