Clinical Therapist- Substance Abuse Job Opening in Phoenix, Arizona - Job Summary
The Clinical Therapist provides crisis intervention, intake assessment service planning and on-going individual/group therapy. Direct crisis intervention experience is critical.
Essential Job Functions:
Accepts all intakes and collaborates with the client and his/her family or significant others to complete a comprehensive intake assessment;
Collaborates with the client and his/her family or significant others to implement an effective service plan, explaining the available clinical options to the client and guardian, including the advantages and disadvantages of each option;
Serves as the point contact, coordination and communication with other systems where clinical knowledge of the case is important;
Provides clinical oversight to ensure provision of all covered services identified on the service plan; referrals to community resources as appropriate; and continuity of care between inpatient and outpatient settings; services and supports, as applicable;
Provides continuous evaluation of the effectiveness of treatment through the ongoing assessment of the child and input from the child and relevant others resulting in modification to the service plan as necessary;
Ensures the coordination of transfers out-of-area, out-of-state or to an Arizona Long Term Care System contactor, as applicable;
Ensures the development and implementation of transition, discharge and aftercare plans prior to discontinuation of behavioral health services;
Acts as a point of contact and to ensure ongoing collaboration, including the communication of appropriate clinical information with other individuals and/or entities with whom delivery and coordination of covered services is important;
Maintains the clientâ??s comprehensive clinical record.
Participates in individual and group supervision that meets the standards set by OBHL and the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Licensure and in accordance with agency policy.
Communicates accurately, clearly, and professionally.
Communicates in a positive, respectful, and courteous manner.
Practices active listening skills and uses partnering communication strategies to engage staff members in collaborative problem-solving process.
Interacts with coworkers and the community to build productive and collaborative relationships to support the achievement of agency and program goals.
Understands and maintains private and sensitive information within the confines of need-to-know parameters.
Reviews email daily using various writing styles and formats to produce effective communication including a clear purpose and intent.
Submits accurate and complete reports, forms, and other written information as required in accordance with department and program standards.
Maintains a calendar on a weekly basis that is available to supervisors and coworkers
Attends staff meetings and meetings as requested.

Plans, coordinates, attends and participates in staff meetings in accordance with department standards and schedule. Supports the decisions of the director and members of the management team to staff, participants, and the community.
Utilizes supervision effectively, takes initiative to secure professional development opportunities, and applies relevant information to the work setting.
Prepares and participates in supervision that is regular, reflective, and collaborative in nature.
Recognizes the personal limits of competencies and expertise, seeks supervision and guidance accordingly.
Maintains awareness of current professional information in the fields of activity, undertakes regular and ongoing efforts to maintain competencies in the skills used, and incorporates and demonstrates new knowledge and skills on the job.

Notifies supervisor of crisis situations, unusual incidents, and/or on-going problems within appropriate timelines (including reports to Child Protective Services).
Education, Experience, and Other Qualifications:
1) Requires a degree in counseling or related field (MC, MSW, PhD/PsyD, MFT ) with a current Arizona License or pursuing a license from the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners pursuant to A.R.S. Title 9,Chapter 20;
a. shall license professional counselors providing behavioral health services. b. shall license marriage and family therapists providing behavioral health service. c. shall license substance abuse counselors providing behavioral health services. d. shall license social workers providing behavioral health services. The Clinical Director will review at least once annually to verify proper documentation of licensure for Clinical Therapists is present in the human resources file. Proper verification of licensure will include a photocopy of the staff member?s current behavioral health professional license and primary source verification from the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners to verify that the license is current and valid.
Credentials BHT/BHP, LISAC, LCSW, LPC, LMFT, PhD/PsyD in
Psychology, Associate level licensure (LAC, LAMFT, LMSW)
2) Must provide proof of a valid driver license, valid auto insurance coverage with at least the minimum state coverage, CPR and First Aid Certification, TB test results, Arizona Fingerprint Clearance; 3) Competent in the prevention of violent or harmful behavior to the client or others; 4) Act as a primary provider of individual or group therapies to the client/s as outlined by the best practice, OBHL and RBHA guidelines; 5) Competent in behavior management in crisis situations, independent living skills and activity supervision; and 6) Proficient in electronic clinical documentation.
Ability to engage patients with co-morbid diagnoses in individual, family, and group counseling in outpatient setting, interact with an EMR/EHR and with a multi-disciplinary team
