Billing Specialist Job Opening in Tempe, Arizona - Under the direct supervision of the Billing Manager, a Billing Specialist is responsible for completing the billing activities of CPR which includes performing an in-depth review of client accounts to determine payer coverage, auditing notes and submitting claims.
Knowledge and Skills:
Requires knowledge of healthcare billing practices including HCPCS and ICD-10
Must have experience with EHRs and automated billing systems
High-level attention to detail and accuracy
Clear and concise communication
Excellent problem solving, organizational and time management skills
Must be able to work in a fast paced, ever-changing work environment
Acts ethically and honestly and applies those behaviors to daily work activities
Duties:
Audit notes and make claim edits to ensure accuracy of billing
Follow prioritization of accounts for submitting claims
Search various web portals for active insurance
Upload documentation in client charts
Obtain authorizations
Enroll clients in applicable RBHA
Contact insurance companies and patients, when necessary
Request information from appropriate clinical departments
Make necessary adjustments to patient demographic and insurance information
Adhere to HIPAA privacy and confidentiality regulations and guidelines
Meet department performance standards for production and quality
Research and update information from previously rejected or denied claims
Resolve and bill accounts that require more in-depth research to obtain insurance information
Identify and report claims issues to management
Other duties and tasks may be assigned as appropriate or necessary
Education Requirements:
Medical Billing and Coding Certification (CPC) preferred
High School diploma plus 2 years billing experience
