Payroll Manager Job Opening in Detroit, Michigan - Supervisor of Payroll
This position is responsible for managing all departments? payroll operations. The payroll manager develops and implements procedures and policies to enhance the effectiveness of the payroll function.
Essential Duties:
Multi-divisional company
Job costing payroll system with dual balancing
Direct the collection, calculation and entering of data
Update payroll records; exemptions, insurance coverage, deductions, etc.
Pay employees through electronic transfers and checks
Create special payrolls; commissions, bonus, etc.
Determine payroll liabilities; federal and state income and social security taxes, employer social security, unemployment and worker?s compensation
Assign and update schedules for employees
Support peers and management with internal and external projects
Ensures all policies and procedures pertaining to payroll are legally compliant
Acts as a resource to location payroll staff; resolves escalated employee issues and complex problem utilizing expertise in payroll policies and laws.
Audit W-4s, payroll balance sheets and YTD earnings
Requirements:
Bachelors? degree in Accounting, Finance or other relevant area
Knowledge of HRMS and Ulti pro preferred
10+ years? experience managing payroll preferred
Highly organized, disciplined approach to completion of tasks
Ability to multi-task projects and required tasks
Proficient at MS Office (especially Excel)
Management experience- 10+ years
Job Type: Full-time 6 mth Appointment with possible extension.
Candidates earn Sick and Vacation time.
