Programmer Job Opening in New Orleans, Louisiana - Job Summary
This individual will be responsible for activities focused on proprietary system development and maintenance, including programming, data mining, and analysis of business operations as it relates to MRI internal system usage. This includes, but is not limited to, working with end users to create program specifications based on job need, creating new code as well as maintenance of existing code, and creating and updating SQL queries, function and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following:
Codes, tests, debugs, implements, and documents moderately complex programs
Creates, tests, modifies, and saves data import routines, including but not limited to file validation, standardization, normalization, and automation
Provides feedback to MRI management regarding data integrity
Works with external client IT staff to troubleshoot data feed issues
Follows established MRI task management protocol
Assists project manager in preparing time estimates and justification for assigned tasks
Designs programs for projects or enhancements to existing programs, including proprietary system, user interface, and database
Solicits, organizes, and prioritizes user inquiries and requests with input from Management
Writes specifications for programs
Assists support and/or project personnel in resolving program problems; works with client and management to resolve issues and validate programming requirements within their areas of responsibility; provides technical support on complex programming
Develops test plans to verify logic of new or modified programs
Develops trainings and walkthroughs for end users
Conducts quality assurance activities such as peer reviews
Creates appropriate documentation in work assignments such as program code, and technical documentation

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

Solid experience with MS SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, and Access
Experience with framework
Knowledge of the use of source control systems such as Git and BitBucket
Ability to work with clients to understand their business requirements and to assist with the development and design of effective solutions to meet the clients? needs
Knowledge of software development methodologies
Knowledge of EDI transactions like 270/271, 835/837 preferred
Ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines
Knowledge of or ability to gain knowledge of general hospital policies and procedures, departments, and revenue cycle technology
Demonstrates professionalism in all interactions with internal and external clients, including written, client-facing, and over the phone
Ability to analyze a problems, think logically and critically, and create innovative solutions
Prioritize and manage multiple tasks/assignments and meet established time frames
Ability to work independently and as a team
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Include minimum education, technical training, and/or experience required to perform the job.
Degree or 2-5 years? work experience required
Direct experience with database design preferred
Experience coding professional level applications
Experience with multiple IT/IS facets including but not limited to server administration, help desk support, form design, database administration, application development, networking, and VOIP
