Director of Information Technology Job Opening in Shreveport, Louisiana - The DIT plans, directs, implements, and manages computer systems and operations which support the needs of each campus site, while following the goals and objectives set forth to interface college- wide. Responsibilities include leadership, coordination, planning and integrative management of the College information technology resources. The DIT leads and directs the provision of networking and personal computer hardware support for all constituencies of the college; designs, configures, and plans local and/or wide area networks; researches and recommends solutions relating to networks and modifies existing networks to meet changing needs; and prepares customer and information system documentation for the use of new and revised network applications. Management, planning, design, integration, and implementation of enterprise administrative information systems; develops and implements policies and procedures relevant to IT operations and the annual budget; develops programs, services and policies that enhance the quality of experiences, staff and students; and provides leadership for assessing the effectiveness and outcomes of the IT Department. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of current practices and trends in higher education IT management; prepares and submits all required IT reports for government, accreditation or other entities; and identifies and works with appropriate vendors for college-wide IT purposes. The DIT collaborates in the development and maintenance of the college website. Hires, supervises and evaluates the performance of assigned staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, organize, control, and directs college-wide Information Technology (IT) perations;
Develop, plan, implement, and manages policies, procedures, and operations on the effective use of the college s computer network and systems for administrative, academic, and student services and support needs;
Establish and maintain computer security and accessibility for the users of the system; consults with users (employees and students) to determine problems, and methods of enhancement and/or resolution; ensures that computers are operational;
Maintain inventory of all computer equipment at the college; serves as college contact for purchasing new or enhanced computer equipment; establishes methods for the college to follow;
Develop and manage networking and personal computer hardware standards for the College;
Implement project work plans and schedules for the development and support of networks;
Analyzes network needs and recommends practical solutions; confers with customers to assess requirements and conduct cost-benefit analyses;
Responsible for the implementation of network systems; manages the operation and support of LAN systems; monitors and evaluates the processes and procedures of LAN systems operation to improve efficiency and ensure quality; assesses new technology and implements when feasible;
Responsible for planning, and implementing VoIP systems; sets goals, monitors work, and evaluates results to ensure objectives and operating requirements are met and are in line with the needs and mission of the college; assesses and identifies appropriate solutions to be integrated into the VoIP systems operation to make implementation recommendations; administers and maintains the VoIP network infrastructure to include desktop PC?s, servers, network equipment, and software applications; configures, implements, and maintains various technologies managed by the Information Technology department;
Remain current in hardware and software tools within the marketplace; recognizes need for software and/or hardware tools within organization and assists in acquiring and installing;
Creates a resource acquisition and management strategy for needed capital and operational investments in IT infrastructure and services; plans, directs, implements and manages computer systems and operations, and the associated budget, which support the needs of the college;
Develop and manage computer replacement plan for the College;
Oversees implementation and functioning of all application technologies, web and portal support services, business process mapping and improvement, database administration and reporting, quality and security controls of administrative applications data, software development and documentation, data warehouse development and reporting, and the integration of other software applications with the AIS applications;
Provide leadership for the timely design, development, testing, implementation, training, documentation, and support of all administrative applications used by the College;
Develop and updates the college's Information Technology Strategic Plan and assures its integration with other major planning efforts within the college;
Provide leadership to Information Technology staff to insure effective delivery of services that includes assessment and review, development of unit outcomes, compliance with accreditation standards, and other accountability efforts;
Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel; coordinates the work assignments of assigned personnel; reviews work to assure compliance with established standards;
Motivate staff to improve quantity and quality of work performed and provides training and development opportunities as appropriate;
Work closely with the Southern University System Office of Information Technology to assure compliance with applicable policies, procedures and requirements;
Ensure Information Technology functions are leading edge and adhere to the highest quality standards of customer service;
Regularly attends seminars, special conferences and professional meetings as time and budget permit; regularly reads professional publications, articles, books, etc. to maintain knowledge of Information Technology operations, best practices, policies, laws and regulations;
Builds and strengthens an environment that fosters creativity, innovation, and professional development among the members of the Information Technology department;
Monitors the IT and College websites for accurate and current information;
Assures all Information Technology practices comply with local, state, federal and accrediting body regulations;
Occasional evening and weekend work and overnight travel may be required; and

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Educational Technology, or related field from an accredited college or university.
Five or more years of administrative experience managing comprehensive IT operations or similar IT administrative applications services operations.
Demonstrated project management experience.
Microsoft server operating systems experience and relevant entry level certifications (e.g., MTA, etc.).
A strong commitment to and passion for the mission of the comprehensive community college.
Commitment to staff diversity, learning and development.
Proficiency in Microsoft software applications.
Working experience with Ellucian?s Banner Student Information System or other student management system.

Eligibility for a Louisiana Driver's License.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Educational Technology, or related field from an accredited college or university.
Three or more years of experience working with higher education enterprise resource planning.
(ERP) solutions, higher education business processes; business analytics, and data warehousing.
Cisco networking experience and relevant certifications.
Multiple server operating systems experience and relevant advanced level certifications (e.g., MCP, MCSE, MCSE+I, CCNA, etc.).
