Senior Metrology Technician Job Opening in New Orleans, Louisiana - Metrology Technician independently determines and performs operations required to calibrate and certify electronic and measuring and test equipment, maintaining traceability to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), US Department of Commerce, or by reference to natural constants. The incumbent will utilize Navy calibration methods and techniques based on principles of measurement science, technical analysis of measurement problems, and accuracy and precision requirements. Metrology Technician identifies magnitude of error sources contributing to uncertainty of results to determine reliability of measurement process in quantitative terms, diagnoses and repairs malfunction in complex measuring and test equipment using theories of operation, block diagrams, schematics, logic trees, and software diagnostics to the component level. This worker provides training to apprentice technicians on metrology principle, resolving technical problems, and complicated electronic theory. This worker will inspect measuring and test equipment for preventive maintenance, cleanliness, and safety requirements, analyze and interpret results of measurements and calibrations using mathematical formulas, and document results of measurements and calibrations on calibration certificates and calibration correction charts. Qualified candidate must have a well-rounded skill set in Physical Mechanical areas. Any combination of these skills will be considered. Applicants must have good communication and organizational skills and be able to work well with other team members as well as interact professionally with government employees.
Job Requirements:
Minimum twelve (12) years? experience in Physical Mechanical areas working on Test, Maintenance, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) calibration and repair, preferably in a military calibration laboratory.
Experience to include: Physical Mechanical areas, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling, aligning, calibrating, and certifying TMDE, metrology laboratory working standards and safe work
Completion of a DOD accredited PMEL School or an Associates? Degree in Metrology.

Completion of the Advanced course.
Possesses the knowledge required to read/analyze block, schematic, wiring and logic diagrams.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair non-functioning TMDE.
Must be able to be able to obtain/maintain a secret clearance
