It?s My Community Initiative (IMCI) is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization, organized in Oklahoma City in 2003, with a mission of developing and expanding efforts to strengthen communities and families. While IMCI has become engaged in national, state and city-wide initiatives, the organization also has a longtime commitment to affecting transformational change in one of Oklahoma?s most disadvantaged communities, northeast Oklahoma City.
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, IMCI?s Federal Programs Director has overall strategic and operational responsibility for staff, programs, expansion and execution of IMCI?s mission around all federal programs and funding. IMCI?s team specializes in developing research-informed strategies to tackle the multiple challenges facing financially vulnerable individuals, utilizing best practices in implementation plans, and forging partnerships and coalitions that engage stakeholders towards common goals. IMCI is focused on holding a high standard for services provided to low-income families and other vulnerable populations, regularly meeting performance goals and expecting nothing less than the best from itself and others.
Essential Job Functions
Serve as a part of the IMCI leadership team, reporting to the Board of Directors and working collaboratively to achieve the goals of the organization
Provide oversight for the Board of all federally-funded programs to ensure that funder requirements are met, utilizing the broad expertise of the IMCI team, its staff and consultants to ensure success
Utilize the IMCI staff and management team designated by the Board of Directors to prepare materials that assist with making decisions that impact federally-funded programs, ensuring that no conflicts of interest exist in decision making and that that federal funds are spent in ways that are necessary, reasonable, allowable, and allocable for the performance of Federal awards
Approve federal program budgets, subject to the limitations established by the Board and specific funding sources and manage spending through invoice authorization and/or the signing of checks and oversee all contracts
Provide oversight to the submission of any federal grant applications, serving as the authorized federal representative, having signatory authority for all reports provided to federal funders including programmatic, financial and any other correspondence
Support fund-raising activities that will supplement federal resources as required to meet program objectives and responsibilities
Oversee hiring decisions for all federally funded programs, utilizing effective human resource systems and practices. Ensure that supervisors are monitoring the job performance of employees and that personnel decisions are consistent with all applicable employment laws and regulations
Provide oversight to the leadership team of IMCI?s federally funded programs to develop quality programming
Represent IMCI as part of the organization?s leadership team, contributing to the critical external relations required for success with the community, governmental entities, funders, the media and the general public
Contribute to the promotion of IMCI?s mission, its federal programs, as well as related policies and research-informed practices
Build collaboration and partnerships with other institutions and organizations with shared goals and purposes
Education/Training
Bachelor's degree is required. Master?s in Nonprofit Management and/or a MBA is preferred
Experience
Prior leadership experience (at least five years) as an Executive Director or senior manager of a nonprofit or related organization, preferably an organization receiving federal funding
Experience and passion for working in the nonprofit, charitable, or human services sector
Successful track record in fiscal oversight of programs of comparable size and complexity to those managed by IMCI and/or experience with oversight or implementation of initiatives from a variety of public and private sources
Experience reporting to and guiding Board leadership
Knowledge of current nonprofits involved with workforce initiatives and economic conditions.
Commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation
Management experience with the ability to coach, supervise and motivate staff
Proven track record setting and achieving strategic objectives while successfully managing finances
Strong marketing, public relations and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures
Persuasive and passionate communicator
Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable and innovative
Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
Familiarity with IMCI?s core programs and services is preferred
Special Requirements
Detail oriented with the ability to analyze data and make sound decisions
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Capabilities in the use of Microsoft Office Applications
Strong planning, administrative, organizational, personnel and budget management skills
Broad base of relevant technical knowledge and skills related to financial management and procurement systems, fund accounting experience desirable
Working knowledge of workforce programs or the employment and training industry
Comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by low income families
Essential Physical Requirements
