POSITION DESCRIPTION: The GOD'S CHILD Project has an excellent opportunity for a Fundraising and Event Specialist in our Golden Valley, Minnesota office.
Working under the direction of the Executive Director, this position is responsible for fundraising and sales, promotes community engagement, leads donor development and support, and represents the Project, the CEO, and the Executive Director.
The successful candidate for this position is excited by the challenges of donor development and fundraising, multi-tasking, and holding a public presence. This is a full-time position with occasional evening or weekend participation when there is a special activity, or a natural disaster affects a population served by the Project. This is a professional fundraising, donor-centric, position.
SALARY/BENEFITS: The GOD'S CHILD Project's hiring philosophy is to hire and retain quality team members. This is a professional position, with competitive compensation commensurate with experience and other qualifications.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: This position is based in Golden Valley, Minnesota. The position is expected to require: 50% in-office, 45% local and regional travel, 05% national and international travel to visit programs.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
-Three years of significant experience in fundraising development and sales
-Have strong interpersonal, speaking and writing skills
-Possess the ability to select, train, work with, and motivate staff and volunteers with warmth, tact, diplomacy and creativity
-Stay organized and able to follow through on tasks and goals
-Demonstrate professional presence, self-confidence, common sense, and humor
-Be able to process and implement direction, instructions, and constructive criticism
-Develop, coordinate, and direct special public awareness and service activities which may include but are not limited to community awareness and publicity appearances to promote events or programs
-Develop and lead fundraising activities that may include assisting with and directing ongoing activities, working with other project team members to identify and implement new fundraising opportunities, solicit sponsor ships to cover event costs, write letters, make phone calls, and do personal follow-up as required for the successful promotion of one-time and ongoing events
-Be able to work with the media and set up a system for communicating with the media through press releases and written and verbal communication in a local, regional, national, and international arena
-Be able to understand, learn about, enjoy, and implement fundraising, volunteer development, donor development, community engagement with schools, churches of all denominations, community groups, and other individuals and groups

-Be technologically friendly and have a strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
-Formal education, Bachelor's Degree minimum or equivalent experience preferred
-Previous work experience with a non-profit or public service organization is preferred but not required

The GOD'S CHILD Project (GCP) is an international family of non-denominational, non-profit, non-political charities that develop and operate programs to empower extremely impoverished people with education, health care, legal aide, human rights protection, community development, foster care for orphaned children, human trafficking prevention and rescue, group home-building and repair efforts, in the United States and abroad.
The Project is managed by an Executive Director who is supervised by a national Board of Directors. There are small stateside staffs in Minneapolis, MN and Bismarck, ND, who support our international staffs with the assistance of 45+ ServiceTeam groups and 2,000+ volunteers each year.
The Project is financed by individual, corporate, and community-based support groups, and has an annual budget of +/- $ 3 million cash expenses and +/- $ 15 million in-kind donations.
