Senior/Advanced Staff Accountant Job Opening in Las Vegas, Nevada - The Senior/Advanced Staff Accountant will be responsible for the full accounting cycle including journal entry recording, financial statement preparation and analysis, budgeting and forecasting. The Accountant will perform month-end close tasks, work closely with operations to identify and remediate issues, investigate monthly budget-to-actual variances, and assist with providing the information/support needs of internal departments.
Responsibilities:
Prepare financial records of the company, including but not limited to: the month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes; preparation and/or review of journal entries (supported by well-documented reconciliations), performance of account reconciliations and analyses.
Participation in all activities related to the monthly close process, including the planning timeline, and work with department heads to ensure all information is accurate and complete.
Support the Controller through timely review to ensure the proper accounting treatment is applied.
Aid in the compliance of internal control processes and policies & procedures.
Communicate effectively with operational management to identify needs.
Review budget to actual results and meet regularly with department management to review their profit and loss statement and consult on other financial matters.
Work with department heads to streamline processes and ensure consistent application.
Facilitate the flow of information throughout the property, by attending regularly scheduled departmental meetings as necessary.
Prepare and distribute other reports and/or analysis as needed.
Prepare and submit various regulatory filings.
Required Skills
Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting.
2+ years of general ledger accounting experience, including journal entries, roll-forwards, and reconciliations.
Understanding of GAAP.
Assist in auditor requests.
Extreme attention to detail, high level of professionalism, and excellent communication skills.
Strong proficiency with MS Excel.
Normally requires no instructions on routine work, and general instructions on new assignments.
Highly motivated with the ability to work on a team as well as independently and drive results.
MS Great Plains, but not a requirement.
MICROS a plus, but not a requirement.
