Make a difference to a child with autism -- SUMMER INTERNSHIPS Job Opening in san diego, California - Make a difference to a child with autism -- SUMMER INTERNSHIPS If you are an enthusiastic, energetic, silly, creative and very responsible individual who would love the opportunity to make a difference in the life of a special child, then this is the opportunity for you. We are seeking individuals for our home-based play therapy program for our physically healthy, fun-loving and verbal 10 year old boy. He has a moderate form of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Since we started this program, he has made amazing progress! We have a team of wonderful volunteers who are working with our son now, and are looking to add a few more. This is an amazing opportunity not only to learn about autism but to grow yourself. Most everyone that has ever volunteered with us says that the experience has changed their life -- in a good way :) We are using natural play therapy, a therapeutic child centered program that combines a non-judgmental attitude with an effort to engage and motivate children to reach their full potential. This is a positive program that plays on the child's strengths and brings about enormously gratifying advancements in a child's abilities. AND it is A LOT of fun!!! REQUIREMENTS: No experience is necessary, just the present desire to help. We provide all training. Outgoing individuals with strong inner confidence and desire to learn and grow are encouraged to apply! TRAINING: � You will receive individual instruction in methods of natural play therapy to facilitate special children. � You will also receive individual instruction from an Autism Specialist who comes to support our program once a quarter. � One on one of your sessions is on-going. TIME COMMITMENT: A minimum of 4 hours per week: two -- two hour shifts are required. We also have a (2 hour) team meetings every other Monday evening from 6-8 pm - these are mandatory for the entire team.
