Public Policy & Advocacy Intern Job Opening in Columbia, Louisiana - Do you have a passion for advocacy? Looking to make a substantive impact on policy? The Public Policy & Advocacy (PPA) Internship is the perfect opportunity for you! HEROES is looking for thinkers, activists, and advocates to help start a new social justice organization centered on broad advocacy and coalition-building across different social justice fields. We are looking to incorporate many different social justice campaigns into our core operations: HIV/AIDS, LGBT issues, gender inequality, racial imbalance, sex workers, youth homelessness, healthcare, and much more. As a PPA Intern, you will have a great opportunity to immerse yourself within the issues and be involved in changing minds, lives, and policies. PPA Interns will help aggregate information, initiate social justice campaigns, coordinate with fellow organizations, and compile recommendations all in order to construct effective public policy change. This internship will give you a personal experience with issues, ability to draft legislation, and opportunities working in an enthusiastic team dynamic looking to solve social problems. This internship will help build skills learning about policy structure, ground-level needs, and personal initiative. This internship requires someone who is passionate, driven, motivated, creative, cooperative, and outgoing. Previous Public Policy or Policy Advocacy experience NOT required. Tasks include (but not limited to): data aggregation, external communications, legislation research, policy writing, policy tracking, website skills, grassroots campaigns, interpersonal dynamics, coalition building and much more! This is an unpaid position , however HEROES will gladly work with your college or university to provide course credit for outstanding performance in this rewarding position! Furthermore, you will get one-on-one attention, great professional skills, individual projects, and networking opportunities that will enhance your internship experience! Note: Interns MUST be able to commute to our office in Columbia. Job Type: Internship Required education:
