Accountant Job Opening in Rochester, New york - Looking to join a growing company that offers tremendous career opportunity with a startup culture? This position reports to the VP of Finance and works closely with the Office Manager supporting the accounting function from end to end including accounts payable, cash reconciliation and general ledger accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
Cash - Prepare sales entries, verify daily deposits and perform cash reconciliation for all locations.
Accounts payable ? Manage the accounts payable for 19 restaurants including receiving, coding, and entering invoices, matching documents for payment, preparing check runs and maintaining files. Coordinate with vendors to resolve billing discrepancies and disputes. Assist with purchasing requests.
Payroll ? Record weekly payroll.
Fixed assets ? Track and record fixed assets in accordance with company policy.
Month end ? Prepare and post month end closing entries including PO and payroll accruals, inventory, and cash related entries. Complete reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and resolve financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
Financial Statements ? Prepare monthly P&Ls including submission to the franchisor.
Sales tax ? Prepare and submit monthly NYS sales tax filings.
Assist with the development, improvement and documentation of accounting processes.
Filing, opening mail, answer phones and general office organization as necessary.
Other Responsibilities:
Assist in preparing and developing daily, weekly and monthly operational reports to support the operations team.
Perform ad hoc store level analysis in areas such as sales growth, profitability, food and labor cost, product mix, inventory and repairs and maintenance.
Skills & Qualifications:
Education ? Associates degree in accounting or related field. Bachelor?s degree preferred.
Experience ? Minimum of 1-2 years of accounting or book keeping experience. Experience with multi-unit businesses in the industry a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
Experience with Quickbooks highly preferred.
Very detailed oriented with the ability to process transactions quickly and accurately.
Excellent time management and communication skills.
Experience with and knowledge of financial systems and general accounting concepts.
Highly motivated, self-starter with ability to work with multiple teams and vendors simultaneously. We truly have a startup culture! Open to new ideas with desire to learn and grow.
Highly flexible and adaptable; comfortable working in a changing environment and assuming new responsibilities.
Willing to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
