Executive Director Job Opening in Independence, Iowa - Summary
Directs the activities of the Assisted Living community to provide healthcare and optimal living conditions for the elderly in a loving, caring, nurturing and home like environment by successfully performing the following duties;
Essential Duties include the following:
Makes business decisions based on the best interest of the company and its team members
Creates a professional environment that represents the vision and values of the Company
Meets budgets and targeted property performance goals
Fully engages in the sales and marketing process by creating an environment where sales flourish, which requires him/her to remain current on the competition, properly position the property in the market, actively participate in the sales process and meet occupancy and revenue goals
Demonstrates competence in the area of regulatory compliance and ensures that the property stays in regulatory compliance with all regulatory agencies
Provides leadership in such a manner that represents keys servant leadership principles, including effective listening, empathy, awareness and persuasiveness
Hires, orients, supervises, evaluates, reviews and appropriately disciplines subordinate staff
Attends corporate sponsored meetings and training sessions as required
Actively participates in networking and community based group(s) that are relevant to the Company?s business
Offers proactive solutions to problems and circumstances in keeping with the company vision, values, policies and standards
Performs conflict intervention and resolution for customers, families, employees and affected parties
Remains coachable and demonstrates the ability to effectively help others succeed
Delivers truthful and unfiltered information to subordinates, supervisor and company owners
Ensure that company standards and policies are well-maintained
Aligns his/herself with owners? vision for service quality and value creation
Work as Manager on Duty according to rotation schedule
Other duties as assigned
Supervisor Responsibilities
Manages three to five (3-5) subordinate coordinators who supervise a total of approximately 30-50 employees in the areas of Housekeeping, Resident Care, Maintenance, Dietary and Office.
Provides overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these units
Directly supervises two to four (2-4) non-supervisory employees
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization?s policies and applicable laws
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Community including profit and loss, marketing, sales, regulatory compliance, maintaining high customer satisfaction, meeting financial expectations and ensuring a quality workforce
Interviews, hires and trains employees
Plans, assigns, and directs work
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required.
Education and/or Experience
Minimum requirement: High school diploma; BA preferred, but will consider work/life experiences. Health Care Administrator License may be required.
Language Skills
Ability to clearly communicate with Corporate office, Human Resources, team members, residents, resident families, and individuals within and outside the community is a must. In addition, must be able to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as sales, accounting and budgeting figures.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to identify problems and use problem-solving and conflict intervention skills. In addition, must be able to work with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of company?s accounting software; Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office Suite of products.
Other Qualifications
Must possess a general knowledge of laws and restrictions regarding Assisted Living care, and the Department of Health, as well as have a solid understanding of current basic employment laws and regulations.
Must be able to travel within the community and to Corporate office as needed. In addition, the ability to keep irregular, rotated, or extended hours is mandatory.
Physical Demands
To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess the physical stamina to move freely throughout the Community and assist residents when needed and in emergency situations.
