Controller Job Opening in Wilmington, Delaware - The Arc of Delaware is a private, nonprofit agency which serves persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families all across Delaware. The Arc owns and maintains 84 homes across the state, including 27 homes funded through HUD 811. The Arc also provides advocacy, supported employment, outreach and social/recreational services.
The Controller manages and analyzes the financial operations of the agency including but not limited to APs, ARs, general ledger, fixed assets, payroll and several dozen bank accounts. The Controller oversees all comprehensive electronic accounting records primarily using Microsoft Dynamics Solomon. The Controller works closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors and department managers in developing and managing the annual $3.1M budget and generating all timely financial reports.
The Controller also provides financial support for all grant applications, grant reports and deliverables. The Controller also oversees all HUD 811 housing reports, transactions and compliance responsibilities. This employee also works with the CPA/Auditor to ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations and IRS reporting requirements for a nonprofit 501(c)(3) agency, including form 990 and annual audit requirements. This employee also participates in the evaluation and analysis of all major asset purchases, insurance/benefit selections and related financial decision making. The Controller also manages the selection, training, supervision and evaluation of three accounting positions.
Required Skills/Experience:
Strong experience in all aspects of budget, accounting and financial management
Independent and effective planning and prioritizing of workload to meet deadlines
Strong computer knowledge, skills and experience, preferably with Microsoft Dynamics Solomon
Experience with 501(c)(3) nonprofit accounting, property management, and IRS, contract and HUD 811 compliance and reporting strongly preferred
Strong interpersonal, leadership, communication and management experience in a team environment
Ar least 3-5 years of applicable experience
