Chief Financial Officer Role
As a key member of the Executive Management team, the Chief Financial Officer will report to the President and assume a very strategic role in the overall management of the company. The CFO will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial and most administrative activities of the company. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, KPI reporting, risk control, deal analysis and negotiations, investor relationships and private and institutional financing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide leadership in the development and continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial and operating objectives.
Ensure credibility of Finance group by providing timely and accurate analyses of budgets, financial trends and forecasts.
Take hands-on lead position in developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive cost and performance measurement systems.
Direct and oversee all aspects of the Finance, Business Planning, Tax & Accounting functions of the organization.
Evaluate and advise on the impact of long range planning, introduction of new programs/ strategies and regulatory action.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior executives so as to identify their needs and seek full ranges of business solutions.
Provide executive management with advice on the financial implications of business activities.
Manage processes for financial forecasting, budgeting and financial reporting to business units and the Board of Directors.
Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities.
Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and in compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
Drive out waste and system inefficiencies and help provide reporting for others to identify and track progress against key efficiency KPIs.
Ensure cost-effective risk mitigation across enterprise including insurance, business continuity, cyber, etc.
Effectively manage accounting, bank, insurance and other enterprise service relationships.
Education and/or Experience
BS in Accounting or Finance, MBA and/or CPA;
15+ years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, preferably in financial services industry sectors such as asset management and insurance investment products;
Experience with both annual and longer range financial planning and budgeting including variance analysis;
Experience with negotiating and integrating add-on and line-expansion acquisitions;
Experience in driving cost efficiencies while also supporting growth initiatives;
Proven Leadership in Operating Assignments and Hands-On Practical Business Skills.
Experience reporting to a private company board and Audit Committee.

Other Skills & Abilities:
PC proficiency is essential (Windows environment) and strong working knowledge of budgeting and accounting software and Excel is preferred.
