Health Projects and Policy Manager Job Opening in Columbia, South carolina - Position Overview
Develops, directs, implements, and coordinates healthcare and medical projects and programs across all SC Thrive departments. Research, disseminate and train all policy changes and updates relating to SC Thrive programs and initiatives. This position is responsible for establishing the scope and compliance of grants and contracts relating to healthcare and medical programs, ensuring all grant deliverables are met. Works closely with the Senior Leadership team to coordinate activities of all healthcare, healthcare policy, and medical programs.
Essential Job Functions
Directs activities related to healthcare and medical assistance programs and benefits
Maintains a leadership role in any federal grants or state contracts related to healthcare and medical assistance benefits, outreach and data
Maintains high level of knowledge about Medicaid policy and federal health insurance changes and updates appropriate staff and vendors
Coaches staff in training presentations related to healthcare and medical assistance- encouraging a positive attitude toward federal and state entities
Attends events, trainings, conferences, webinars, and seminars as appropriate
Carry out supervisory responsibilities that include planning, assigning and directing the work of subordinates and encourages employee productivity
Assists with special projects
Additional Duties

Must have a valid SC driver?s license, required insurance, reliable transportation, and ability to travel to worksites in and outside of South Carolina
Willingness to work flexible hours including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends (including extended hours January to mid-April for tax season and multiple overnights)
Results-oriented
Holds a Bachelor?s degree or higher (or commensurate experience)
Required Knowledge and Skills
Shows strong attention to detail; problem-solving skills, analytical and organizational skills
Displays proficient technical aptitude with laptops, wireless cards, projectors, webinars, USB ports and flash drives, data entry, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google DOC and calendar, internet navigation
Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills, and ability to interact with diverse people from all levels of economic classes, businesses, and government
Must have ability to communicate to large groups of people and possess the communication skills necessary to present at conferences and other events
