Accounting Manager Job Opening in Pasadena, California - Position Summary:
A solid understanding of financial and managerial accounting principle is required. Both accounting and financial analysis experience is essential as this role will encompass both actual and forecast. Critical to the success of this role, the ability to learn process flow is needed in order to tie accounting functions with operations, especially at month-end close, with the goal of timely financial reporting and analysis. This position will also play a significant role in the annual financial audit and special projects.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
General Accounting- Under the guidance and supervision of the VP Controller and Senior Director of Finance, the successful candidate will be responsible for the completion of various accounting and reporting activities and transactions related to sales, cost of goods sold, inventory and other general ledger accounts.
An essential function is to follow inventory transaction flow, including researching and resolving inventory discrepancies before month end inventory reconciliation.
Additionally, this candidate will direct the AP analyst and lead the AP department, including month end AP accruals.
Prepare and enter journal entries, including reclass and accruals
Review treatment of accounting transactions and prepare for month end reconciliations of various balance sheet accounts including: prepaid, fixed asset, inventory, etc.
Research and interpret technical guidance as necessary in order to report financial statements in accordance to GAAP.
Financial Close Process- Lead month-end close process to establish an accountable timeline, monitor adherence and resolve non-compliance through escalation if necessary.
Maintain account reconciliations in accordance with GAAP.
Ensure intercompany due to/from accounts are in balance and netting accounts are cleared.
Research and resolve discrepancies.
Fully support all balance sheets accounts with proper documentation.
Financial Reporting and Budgeting
Assist with preparation and distribution of monthly and year-end financial statements
Analyze monthly budget, including variance analysis
Track cash forecasting
Participate in annual budget process
Ad-hoc and special projects
Compliance and Financial Audit
Prepare monthly bank compliance reporting
Manage preparation and filing of local and state tax returns, including property tax, sales / use tax, international GST/HST, and VAT
Assist with the successful completion of annual financial audit in accordance with GAAP. This includes coordinating process/activities with the accounting teams in order to manage and fulfill PBC requirements.
Update internal control narratives and relevant memos to support technical accounting guidance analysis.
Qualifications:
Bachelor&Master Degree in Accounting or Finance
6-10 years financial accounting and reporting experience (preferably public and private industry)
Solid knowledge of US GAAP
Oracle ERP strongly preferred
MBA / CPA strongly preferred
Advanced Excel Skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIF, Text to Columns, Charts, etc.)
Proficient computer skills (Word, Outlook, Power Point, Access)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Detail oriented
The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $110,000.00 plus bonus (Actual compensation will commensurate with experience).
