Job Purpose:
Strong accountant and self-starter required to apply knowledge of accounting principles to facilitate month-end closing and financial reporting process. Requires ability to prepare and review accounting entries, analyze financial information, as well as prepare account reconciliations. We are seeking a professional with the following qualities: attention to detail, deadline-oriented, the ability to resolve accounting and financial issues and analyze financial results.
Performs some or all of the following: receiving, vendor payments, payroll, invoicing, customer credit control, asset control and insurance activities for the company. Has specific responsibility for developing, coordinating and analyzing necessary and appropriate financial data for all departments of the business. Completes G/L reconciliations, journal entries and all other aspects related to close.
Job Duties:
Assure conformance to Generally Accepted Accounting Policies (GAAP) and Marmon Policy, managing activities to achieve and maintain accurate and current transaction reporting.
Establish and maintain systems to track business trends, including labor utilization and costs, direct and indirect materials and supplies, scrap and salvage costs, administrative expenses, etc. Analyze this data and keep management team informed of trends.
Responsible for monitoring the accurate control and reporting of inventory and assisting with periodic physical inventories.
Processing of various inventory transactions.
Responsible for analyzing selling price, product cost and contribution margin reports with recommendations for actions.
Assist with the development of capital and expense plans.
Preparation of standard / miscellaneous journal entries.
Coordination of various month end accruals.
Review of general ledger activity.
Preparation of monthly account reconciliations on a timely and accurate basis.
Functional property & equipment (PP&E) accountant for all assets: capitalization and monthly depreciation.
Assist with customer invoicing, particularly EDI.
Customer service contact for shipping and other communications.
Manage accounting projects to successful completion
Reporting Structure:
Reports to the Controller.
Worker Education and Experience:
Four year degree in accounting (required)
MBA/CPA completed or in progress (a plus)
Minimum 1 year of accounting experience with demonstrated increase in responsibilities, manufacturing experience strongly preferred
Ability to work independently with little supervision
Strong project management skills
