Staff Accountant Job Opening in Nashville, Tennessee - JOB TITLE: Staff Accountant
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES - Responsible for general accounting functions including financial reporting of clinical operations for small nonprofit agency
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Maintain General Ledger
Prepare monthly journal entries, analyses and account reconciliations as required to accurately
close the monthly fiscal period
Prepare detailed monthly actual to budget variance reports to support management in the
review of monthly operating performance and allocation
Compile monthly statistics and key indicators
Distribute monthly reports to appropriate personnel
Prepare monthly reconciliation for all Balance Sheet accounts, including documentation to support all balances
Actively participate in development and detailed review of annual operating budgets and performance projections
Perform timely internal compliance audits for Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Payroll, and A/R as directed and maintain ongoing documentation
Ensure that all processing and reporting deadlines are consistently achieved
Ensure that privileged and/or proprietary information is adequately safeguarded against disclosure
Maintain all state and federal grants and submit monthly invoices
Provide facility and administrative duties to meet the needs of the agency.

PC skills - demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, various accounting software applications and others as required

procedures and systems
Must be a perfectionist by nature, with no tolerance for financial sloppiness.
Must be highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data.
Must be highly skilled in use of Excel Spreadsheets.
Must be skilled in use of MS Word and must be a very good writer in order to handle the occasional administrative needs of the agency.
Must have very good verbal skills. Communicates clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing
Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures.
EDUCATION
A Bachelors degree in accounting, or a Bachelors degree in business with emphasis in accounting, is required.
Degree(s) must be from a credible college or university
Course work in job costing is recommended.
EXPERIENCE
At least 2 years of Accounting/Finance experience preferred
Relevant education may substitute experience requirement
