Accounting Clerk Job Opening in Roscommon, Michigan - JOB GOAL: To assist in the administration of the C.O.O.R. Intermediate School District?s business affairs so as to provide the maximum educational services for the financial resources available.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Reconciles all investments accounts, accounts payable, C.O.O.R. payroll checks, R.O.O.C. payroll checks with the bank statements and tie back all account balances to the general ledger reflecting the financial conditions of the district
Makes deposits, computes and records cash receipt summaries.
Prepares invoices for billing.
Prepares weekly accounts payable checks.
Assists Supervisor in recording details of the school financial transactions in appropriate journals (e.g. cash receipts journal) and all subsidiary ledgers (e.g. accounts receivable) from such sources as requisition (e.g. charge accounts), payroll records, etc.
Traces errors and records adjustments to correct charges or credits posted to incorrect accounts.
Prepares required and participates in the annual auditing process.
Performs all secretarial duties required by the Accounting Department (e.g. filing, sort mail, PESG, etc.).
May act as C.O.O.R./R.O.O.C. payroll back up person when necessary.
Will perform duties according to COOR safety and health policies.
Will keep work area in a neat and organized manner, keep surrounding areas clean and orderly to maintain health and safety according to COOR policies.
Will possess knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Ability to apply and manage the safety standards of COOR.
Will possess knowledge of common safety hazards and necessary safety precautions for self and others, sufficient to be able to establish a safe work environment. Ability to use the principles of safety and to perform skills protecting the health and safety of self, students and other co-workers.
Will follow all health and safety rules, policies and procedures.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve Month Year. 40 hours per week. Wages based on the Secretarial Salary Schedule plus $0.75. Benefits include: retirement, comprehensive health, life, dental, and vision package.
EVALUATION : Performance on this job will be evaluated annually according to the aforementioned performance tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates Degree in Accounting minimally.
Two years experience in accounting or demonstrated competence in the tasks assigned.
Demonstrated competence in the use of business machines and computers for accounting functions.
Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
