AS/400 RPG Programmer Job Opening in Birmingham, Alabama - AS/400 RPG PROGRAMMER
Responsibilities: 1. Perform complex system design and program development activities required to complete projects as approved by management. 2. Serve as a liaison with key users in specific functional areas of the business. 3. Serve as a technical advisor to other members of the organization on projects as needed. 4. Provide project and technical guidance to other members of IT or others assigned to work on a specific project. 5. Complete task as assigned by IT Manager. 6. Develop systems documentation in accordance with current IT Standards for new applications and update older system documentation as system updates are performed. 7. Understand system controls and ensures that backup and security are in place for systems. 8. Assist Operations of a disaster recovery plan and supports Operations in the execution of the plan as needed. 9. Evaluate alternative solutions and selects the appropriate solution that meets the business requirements of a project while providing the greatest benefit. 10. Decide on level of system controls appropriate for an application to ensure the integrity of the system and its data. 11. This is not a remote position. Will work onsite, collaborative environment.
Qualifications: (education, experience, personal attributes) 1. Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in Systems & Programming with strength in the following areas: RPG/400, Sub file Programs, RPG Free, CLP, SQL, JavaScript, Query/400, ILE Concepts, Web Services and CGI Dev. 2. Working Knowledge of IBM I-Series architecture (hardware & software). 3. Experience in design of complex systems including Accounting and Inventory control. 4. Four years college or equivalent experience. 5. Experience in developing and implementing database and distributive processing applications. 6. Sound understanding of standard business processes. 7. Experience working in a warehouse environment is desired.
