Administers out of hospital medical care and transports sick or injured persons to and from medical facilities, working as a member of an emergency medical team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential functions satisfactorily.
1. Responds to instructions from emergency medical dispatchers and performs assignments in a timely manner.
2. Operates emergency vehicles in accordance with regulations and company policy.
3. Assures proper stocking, re-stocking and maintenance of medical supplies and equipment.
4. Provides accurate and timely written and typed communication on patient disposition.
5. Provides patient assessment, treatment and transport within applicable regulations.
6. Responsible for performing various ?house duties? at various locations; i.e., general cleanliness of the base location including sleeping quarters.
7. Attends company mandated staff sessions.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. Working knowledge of computers.
2. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (i.e., certificates, license, registrations)
Valid CT Operator?s License with 4 years driving experience
Valid State of CT EMT B License
Valid BLS Healthcare Provider, CPR
Shall comply with all training requirements as imposed by Federal, State, Local and Medical Control entities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee may be required to lift up to the weight of the patient, with or without assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
