Senior Accountant - Financial Reporting Job Opening in Columbus, Ohio - The Senior Accountant role will interact with others on the finance team, and own, the stewardship responsibilities for the corporate general ledger. This position will be heavily involved in the monthly close, including submission of Trial Balance. This role will also be responsible for the analysis and reconciliation of certain balance sheet accounts and will share accounting knowledge on the execution of new and ongoing transactions. This role will also support Council initiatives by providing subject matter expertise regarding accounting and reporting processes.
Bachelors degree in Accounting required plus five years of accounting programs or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. CPA a plus.
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, practices and internal controls. Non-profit accounting experience preferred.
Possesses excellent computer skills in Excel and Word. Maintains a thorough working knowledge of the accounting software used and utilizes it to its maximum potential. Demonstrated ability to learn new computer packages quickly. Experience with Abila/MIP (Sage) Not for Profit Accounting Software preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and process instructions or input data quickly and effectively.
Must be able to work efficiently and accurately under pressure and meet multiple deadlines.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change.
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
