Dartmouth-Hitchcock (D-H) and Institute for American Apprenticeships at Vermont HITEC are seeking up to 20 motivated individuals desiring a career as a Medical Assistant. You can become a Medical Assistant Apprentice working for Dartmouth-Hitchcock - Lebanon, Cheshire Medical Center ? Keene, Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital or New London Hospital in 11 weeks by participating in a NO COST education program (unpaid). No previous medical experience required.
Successful graduates will be hired and enrolled in a 2000 hour U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship. Apprenticeship combines education with on-the-job training and apprentices are able to ?earn while they learn.? The starting wage for apprentices, at the conclusion of the 11-week training program, is between $14.00-$14.50/hour. Apprentices have the opportunity to earn performance-based increases as they continue to develop their skills. All apprentices are offered a comprehensive benefits package.
Applicants must apply on-line at AND attend one of the mandatory Orientation sessions either at Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, NH on Wednesday September 20th or at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, on Monday , September 25th. This program is funded in part by the U.S. Department of Labor.
Medical Assistants (MA) perform a variety of clinical and administrative tasks that promote exceptional patient care and satisfaction. They are an integral part of the clinical care team and have daily direct patient contact under the supervision of a provider and nurse manager. The MA job is best performed by an individual who enjoys variety, challenge, and the ability to make a positive impact when interacting with patients.
Some of the many functions the MA will perform include: rooming patients and obtaining initial histories, performing tests (i.e. EKGs, hearing/breathing tests, strep throat assays), assisting providers with procedures, administering immunizations, documenting efficiently in the electronic medical record (EMR), as well as direct patient flow which allows for providers to maintain a smooth, efficient process.
