PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for performing various reconciliations, assisting with reporting expenditures and requesting reimbursements for grants, researching and preparing unclaimed property, ordering and maintaining supplies for the department, scanning documents, and assisting with the capital asset process and creating assets in the District?s financial system. This position will also be assigned responsibilities by the Director of Business Operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum :
A minimum of 12 hours required in Accounting or Business Administration
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Familiar with MUNIS Software
Familiar with Adobe Acrobat
Must be comfortable learning 3rd party software to attain the ability to research and extract required information
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Capital Assets: Assist with the capital expenditure process by ensuring that account codes are in accordance with accounting guidance. Assist with converting capital expenditures into capital assets in the district?s financial software. Assist with the reconciliation of capital assets to capital expenditure to ensure completeness.
End of Year Activities: Assist with the correspondence, research and preparation of schedules for year-end activities.
Annual Inventory: Assist with the District?s annual capital asset inventory. Update MUNIS with approved changes.
Reconciliations: Reconcile postage, inventory, non-sufficient funds (NSF) transactions, travel credit cards, etc.
Grants: Assist with the reporting of grants expenditures and the reimbursement from the granting agency. Assist the Investments/Federal Funds Manager and Federal Funds Accountant with grant management activities.
Invoicing/Billings: Draft and submit invoices for ISF and Head Start Program.
Customer Service: Provide exemplary customer service to district personnel.
Supplies: Maintaining and ordering supplies for the department.
Scanning: Scanning documents entered by employees of the department.
Other responsibilities assigned by the Director of Business Operations.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $16.87 to $21.50 /hour
