JOB OVERVIEW
This person supervises the activities of hourly workers in all phases of tank car repair work. He/she ensures quality tank car repairs are conducted safely and efficiently. He/she maintains AAR, DOT (regulatory) and company standards by careful inspection of all completed work. The repair supervisor will have administrative duties relative to labor reporting and material consumption
This repair supervisor will also be part of the selection process for new employees. He/she will train, motivate, and discipline his/her direct reports. This person schedules his/her work force & adheres to established production schedules whenever possible. The repair supervisor keeps abreast of work in process to help others maintain efficient scheduling of work throughout the shop.
Safety is a top priority. The repair supervisor enforces the safety program by ensuring compliance with all safety rules, quickly correcting hazardous conditions, & working towards eliminating employee injuries. He/she participates in and actively supports quality projects and activities to ensure that the Company achieves its goals.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
2-3 years of supervisory experience required (managing employees, labor and material reporting, safety / quality training, etc.). Tank car repair experience preferred
Ability to learn AAR & FRA regulations
Ability to work in the US for any company without sponsorship
Must be at least 18 years of age
HS Diploma or GED required. Previous experience in tank car or railcar repair strongly preferred
Solid computer skills (MS Word & Excel); ability to learn proprietary software required Ability to read / interpret blueprints and drawings required
Ability to pass education and employment verifications required
Ability to pass a drug / alcohol test required
Ability to pass a company physical required (; lift/carry up to 50lbs; enter manway openings both heights and confined spaces; hearing/vision tests; ability to wear safety equipment including a respirator; other physical requirements as required by the job)
