Field Service / Sales Technician Job Opening in Gorham, Maine - SUMMARY :
This position assists customers, internal and external sales representatives and provides technical sales support for all Montalvo products and their application. It utilizes engineering techniques to identify, trouble shoot and enhance customer applications in order to improve productivity, quality and the safety of their operation. Strong background in PLC Programming and Drives Configuration, including troubleshooting, commissioning and repairs. This position is responsible for supporting Montalvo products in the field, and throughout the sales process, providing training, and support services. They will also be able to generate plans, and designs for mechanical and electromechanical products and systems. The individual should be able to direct and coordinate activities involved in the fabrication, operation, application, installation and repair of electromechanical products and systems.
Key areas of Responsibility:
Works with all departments across sites to ensure processes and products are developed to meet customer requirements.
Performs and evaluates field installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions and/or inefficiencies.
Drives customer retention and builds win/win relationships, continually seeking to understand customer objectives and how our services may fit into their needs.
Provides application support for on-site technical service and coordinates with the sales department.
Maintains up to date and regular service records for all customer paid service requests and calls.
Provides detailed engineering solutions for projects and products.
Ensures completion of all details including design, testing, bills of material, documentation and all follow up until project is completed.
Is an active member of all Design/Product Review meetings in order to provide field service input. Maintains a thorough knowledge of all products sold by Montalvo and its competitors.
Will travel as required for field service.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Education: Possess a high school degree or an approved GED. Associates in Electronics or Industrial Electricity preferred
2-5 years of Industrial experience and/or 2-5 years of education in Electronics or Industrial Electricity preferred.
Minimum two year technical degree in Applied Technology or Engineering.
Electrical or electro-mechanical concentration preferred.
Other education with applicable experience may also be considered.
Minimum two years of facility experience with emphasis of automated equipment and/or field service with primary focus on control systems.
Applicable cooperative education experience may also be considered.
Must have a good working knowledge to include, but not limited to, the troubleshooting and repair of VFD s, Motors/Wiring configurations, PLCs, Computers, Electrical Schematics, Control Circuits, and Preventive / Predictive maintenance.
Familiarization with AB PLC processers (CompactLogix and ControlLogix preferred) and input/output modules. Knowledge of other non-A&B control systems such as Siemens, or Parker/SSD would be a plus.
Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
