Medical-Surgical RN Job Opening in Belcourt, North dakota - Medical-Surgical RN for Acute Care to provide all necessary covered services within the Registered Nurses? scope of practice, under the direction of the Clinical Nurse Supervisor (Medical-Surgical).
Medical-Surgical RN shall provide a full scope of medical and surgical services to include pediatrics, adults, geriatrics, and adolescents.
May also include obstetric services to include post-partum cares, including services to female adolescent, adult, and newborn patients at the Quentin Burdick Memorial Healthcare Facility Service Unit.
The Mission of the Quentin Burdick Memorial Healthcare Facility Indian Health Service is to provide the best possible healthcare services to the patients of the Quentin Burdick Memorial Healthcare Facility Indian Health Hospital.
Provide nursing care services for Medical-Surgical Nursing. Services include provide direct care to patients of all ages with a variety of medical, surgical, pediatric, geriatric, gynecological, and health maintenance needs.
Assess patient care need on the unit and adjusts staff assignments appropriately, collaborates with the Nursing Supervisor as necessary.
Assess the delivery of nursing care on assigned unit and identifies problems and opportunities for improvement.
Assess the health status of patients on the unit as outlines in the Unit Nursing Standards.
Develops and implements a plan of care for the assigned patients based on the nursing process. Including but not limited to:
Assess physical, psychological, and educational needs of the patient and families through interview and review of medical record.
Assess patient care needs on the medical, surgical, and pediatric unit and adjust staff assignments appropriately and collaborates with the Nurse Manager as necessary.
Assess the delivery of nursing care on medical, surgical and pediatric unit and identifies problems and opportunities for improvement.
Assess the health status of patients on the medical, surgical, and pediatric unit as outlined in the Acute Care Nursing Standards.
Evaluates effectiveness of the plan of care and modifies as needed.
Coordinates with other health care disciplines and departments to meet identified patient care needs.
The Medical-Surgical RN will plan nursing interventions based on the plan of care and evaluate its effectiveness for the assigned patients based on the nursing assessment.
The Medical-Surgical nurse will implement nursing interventions based on the plan of care and evaluate its effectiveness for the assigned patients based on the nursing assessment to include but not limited to the following:
Formulates nursing interventions that delineate actions to be taken as outlined in medical, surgical, pediatric, geriatric, obstetric, and neonatal Acute Care Nursing Care Standards.
Participates in implementing planned changes and activities to improve nursing service in collaboration with nursing administration.
Holds self-accountable for the delivery of quality nursing care. Consults with physicians and other health care professionals on patients to obtain diagnostic and therapeutic assistance and coordinate needs.
Promotes harmonious relationships and favorable attitudes among the health care team.
Supports and adheres to administrative and nursing service policies and procedures for employees.
Assist with orientation of new employees, instructs personnel on specific tasks and job techniques.
Initiates treatments, medication, emergency and resuscitative measures based on appropriate utilization of standing orders and unit protocols. Manages self, patients, and other employees during any emergency situation.
Administers therapeutic measures as prescribed by the physician, such as medications, treatments, procedures, intravenous fluids and blood transfusion adhering to current scientific knowledge including principles of safety and infection control.
Foster?s parental motivation and compliance in adhering to required routines by counseling and assisting patients to understand and accept implications of care, diagnosis, and treatment.
Operates specialized equipment such as resuscitative equipment, cardiac monitors, defibrillator, pulse oximeters, infusion pumps, IVAC?s, hypothermic blanket, single and multi-lumen central venous lines, neonatal monitoring device, fetal monitor (internal and external fetal heart tones and uterine contractions), accucheck machine, neonatal incubator, M-vacuum extraction device, computers, Pyxis system, etc. Maintains equipment checks.
Assists with the maintenance of supplies and equipment on acute care unit.
Maintains professional knowledge and proficiency through continuing education, staff meetings, and workshops. Keeps professional license current.
Documents observations, nursing interventions, therapeutic measures administered and patient response to treatment or nursing care according to medical, surgical, pediatric, geriatric, obstetric, and neonatal care standards.
Is prompt and attends nursing report.
Provides escort ambulance escort service as assigned and per policy.
Performs initial assessment and periodical reassessment as warranted by patient?s main concern, reports significant findings and/or changes plan of care, interventions as appropriate.
Provides nursing leadership in maintaining the function of the Acute Care Unit (medical, surgical, pediatric, geriatric, obstetric, and nursery). Including but not limited to:
When assigned as charge provide guidance, direction and training to various skill levels of professional and nonprofessional staff to ensure utmost patient care and safety.
Developing, reviewing, and updating unit policies and procedures.
Participating in unit and hospital performance improvement activities.
Collaborating with other disciplines and department to provide quality patient care.
Performs other related nursing duties as assigned.
Medical-Surgical RN shall:
Participate in a continual process of quality of health care evaluation to assure the provision of quality service.
Strive for excellence in providing Acute Care medical services.
Comply with all I.H.S. facility infection control and safety procedures, practices, and standards.
Meet all applicable Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) standards during the performance of this contract.
Respect and maintain the basic right of patients, to include but not be limited to personal dignity.
Shall generate and maintain proper medical record information on beneficiaries to whom treatment is provided, in accordance with Indian Health Service regulations.
Shall prepare all medical records documentation to meet or exceed the established standards of the I.H.S. facility to include, but not be limited to: timeliness, legibility, accuracy, content, and signature. All medical record information generated in the performance of the contract will be subject to the exclusive control of the Indian Health Service.
Licenses Required
Medical-Surgical RN shall possess a current, unrestricted state nursing license from any of the 50 United States or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, be registered with a Nursing Board and registered with a Registered Nursing Licensure.
Possess current (BLS) Basic Life Support certification.
(ACLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support and
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) and
(NRP) Neonatal Resuscitation Program, is highly recommended but not required.
Nursing liability Insurance of not less than One (1) Million Dollars per occurrence and $3,000,000.00 aggregate.
Medical-Surgical RN shall
Not have any work or health restrictions, which interfere with the performance of general medical services.
Have actively assisted deliveries within the past year.
Have skill and knowledge in providing nursing care with full consideration of the mental, emotional, physical, and cultural factors involved, such that he/she can relate constructively to patients from the Native American community.
Ability to work with patients, the public, and hospital staff.
Hours:
8:00 am-4:30 pm Monday thru Friday except Federal holidays, at Quentin N. Burdick Health care facility located in Belcourt, ND which is an Indian Health Service government facility.
