Assistant Controller/Cost Accounting Job Opening in Hammond, Indiana - Assist with managing by providing information, primarily financial in nature, about all company activities that will assist management, and other users in making educated economic decisions about the company's future.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain product costs
Make recommendations for profitability improvements
Work with Operations to improve inventory controls
Participate in physical inventory verification
Analyze plant costs and capital spending requests
Maintain fixed asset records
Prepare monthly journal entries
Perform reconciliations of general ledger accounts to supporting detail
Assist the Controller with internal and external financial reporting requirements
Provide support for year-end and lender audits
Assist with preparation of annual budget and periodic financial projections
Perform other accounting and finance related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or Finance
MBA and/or CPA preferred
Minimum 5 years? experience
Cost accounting experience
Advanced proficiency with MS-Office applications
Advanced excel skills (pivot tables, formulas etc.)
Experience working with ERP systems

Work Environment
This job operates in an office setting located within manufacturing Plant facility. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
