Patient Access Manager Job Opening in Southport, North carolina - JOB SUMMARY:
The key areas of focus for this position are as follows:
Develop, organize and lead a motivated, multi-functional, and customer-focused Patient Access team.
Provide accurate health information management services which integrate hospital, Emergency Department, Ancillary Services, Network Clinics and Nursing Center records.
Manage the activities of the Patient Service Center including but not limited to Registration, Pre-registration and Bed Assignments.
Serve as Privacy Officer for the planning, development, implementation, and monitoring of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Serve as Compliance Liaison.
Utilizes knowledge of organization policies, procedures and systems. Uses skills in planning, organizing, delegating, and supervising. Must work effectively with physicians, staff, patients, public and external agencies. Uses skills in gathering and interpreting data. Must have ability to take initiative and to exercise independent judgment, decision-making and problem solving expertise.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor Degree in Health Information Management (combination of related education and operational experience in a health care organization may be substituted).
One or more of the following certifications preferred:
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
Certified Coding Associate (CCA)
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
Certified Healthcare Compliance (CHC)
At least five (5) years of health information management experience required with a
consistent track record of achieving metrics and at least two (2) years supervisory experience successfully resolving a variety of people issues.
Individual must have working knowledge of medical insurance billing and collections with CPT, ICD10, and HCPC coding and medical terminology, as well as an overall understanding of managed care products (HMO, PPO, etc.). Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
