Director of Finance Job Opening in Stowe, Vermont - Full Time, year round.
Direct and oversee all the financial activities of the corporations including preparation of monthly financial reports and annual budgets, coordination of annual audits, cash management, and business activity forecasting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Directs the preparation of all financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, reports to shareholders, tax returns (annual stock valuation, quarterly treasurer's report), and reports for government regulatory agencies.
Oversees accounting departments, budget preparation, and audit functions. Meets regularly with department heads to keep informed and to offer direction.
Reviews reports to analyze projections of sales and profit against actual figures, budgeted expenses against final totals, and suggests methods of improving the planning process as appropriate.
Analyzes company operations to pinpoint opportunities. Makes recommendations on areas that need to be reorganized.
Confers with Owners to coordinate and prioritize planning.
Studies long-range economic trends and projects company prospects for future growth in overall sales and market share, opportunities for acquisitions or expansion into new product areas.
Estimates requirements for capital, land, buildings, and an increase in the work force.
Supervises investment of funds; works with banks and/or investment bankers to maintain working capital lines. Projecting cash availability and input on spending decisions.
These duties are required for all organizations (Trapp Family Lodge, Inc.; Coop I; Coop II; VHOA; von Trapp Enterprises, LP.)
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages three subordinate supervisors who supervise employees in the Human Resources Department, Accounting Department and IT Department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's Degree, or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
C.P.A. designation preferred
Other Qualifications
Eight to ten years of experience in financial management with increasing responsibilities for multi-faceted direction and planning.
