Timber Framer Journeyman/Foreman Job Opening in East Montpelier, Vermont - Title: Timber Framer: Journeyman/Foreman ? demonstrated leadership and proficiency of all typical timber framing craft and residential building science. Work speed and quality at or above industry standards, usually equivalent to 5 + years experience).
Status: Full Time employee, 40 hours per week

Pay Range: $25 per hour DOE.
Responsibilities
Take leadership role in training Apprentices, supervise employees, guide daily work flow, and achieve collective production goals, both in shop and on site. Help develop SOPs for various TF processes.
Problem solver, plan more than put out fires, challenge and critique as well as monitor others work.
Layout and cutting of timber frame components. Perform work in an accurate and timely (industry standards) manner. Use tools safely and effectively, and help others to do so.
Heavy timber handling. Moving and stacking wood in yard, warehouse, and shop as needed. Forklift operation and oversite of timber inventory.
Leadership/member of raising & finish crew. Able to work at aboveground heights, give direction, use all applicable tools, finish carpentry skills.
Install stress skin panels with crew.
Shop work as needed. This may include planing, shaping, molding, and other basic woodworking jobs as necessary.
Sawmill support and lumber handling as needed. This may include tailing, stacking, stickering, and moving lumber. Loading/unloading kiln as needed.
Other jobs as necessary specific to the timber frame business.
Fulfill goals and objectives set out in annual employee performance evaluation.
Qualifications
Advanced knowledge of timber frame construction and use of specialized tools. Other woodworking and carpentry experience and tools required.
Proven leadership abilities, time management skills, materials acquisition, and financial accounting.
Must read and follow shop drawings, have good understanding of building math, be highly accurate, and have strong problem-solving skills. Ability to use Sketchup Pro a plus.
Must be physically capable of moving heavy materials on a daily basis.
Must own and use specific tools of the trade as required.
Be a team player, self-motivated, flexible and good-natured.
