Applications Engineering Specialist Job Opening in Laconia, New hampshire - Titeflex Aerospace , a subsidiary of Smiths Group plc under the Flex-Tek division, is a manufacturer and repairer of PTFE assemblies, metal hose assemblies, and precision rigid assemblies for the aerospace industry. Titeflex is seeking an Applications Engineering Specialist to join their team.
The ideal candidate will have a background in document management within a highly regulated field (Aerospace preferred, Medical or Healthcare acceptable).
Summary The position requires high attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to interpret technical data. Specialist coordinates activities within the Applications Engineering Department. Prepares reports and charts related to the status of activities. Maintains control records and related files to release drawings, and engineering documents to manufacturing and other operating departments. Determines and creates effective quality planning for all customer assemblies and details. Reviews all confirming orders and engineering changes for quality requirements. Maintains documentation to support quality management system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Creates and maintains Item Masters and Bills of Material. Item masters at minimum include detailed part information, description, operational characteristics, functions, specifications utilizing customer drawings, STS drawings, customer purchase orders, engineering backsheets and STS quotes. Maintains customer, program, platform and application data for all assemblies. Reviews quality related requirements and revisions to customer contracts, purchase orders, drawings and other documents.
Reviews quality plan for annual review requirements. Reviews government imposed requirements, special process requirements, and record requirements for IMS creation, and First Article Inspections.
Interfaces with engineering and operations to ensure production of new products is in accordance with approved data. Creates quality plans and process control procedures to ensure product meets current standards for materials, processing, and finished product QA specifications. Creates customer quality clauses in procedures for any non-standard requirements.
Resolves problems using solutions that involve new techniques technologies or concepts. Develops, implements and monitors quality policies and procedures, ensuring compliance to customer requirements. Advises management of new requirements that may affect schedule or cost.
Administrator for Document Management System (DocStar). Tasks include setup of new users, training, maintaining drawings, specifications, and other documentation. Maintains documentation for distributors and Titeflex Europe. Sends notifications when drawing and procedures change. Closes out Tooling orders generated from CAD department and scan package into DocStar.
Provides technical support to both internal and external requests. Translates customer quality requirements into supplier quality requirements for general processing inspection, FAA criteria, raw material requirements, and special processor requirements.
Facilitates the review and incorporation of changes to customer and 3rd party specifications and standards. Issues all document changes to engineering and/or manufacturing, including issuing change number, sending form and scanning completed change into DocStar. Examines and facilitates corrective action to documents such as engineering drawings, change orders, contracts and specifications to verify completeness and accuracy of data. Communicates resolve with documentation originators, engineers, sales and marketing liaison personnel to resolve discrepancies and compiles required changes to documents.
Maintains master file of all STS specifications, procedures and forms and updates as necessary. Reviews STS-Laconia FAA-PMA matrix to see if document change will affect parts on list and when change completed, update PMA list. Maintains spreadsheets for quality requirements by customer. Reviews and maintains all customer specification indexes to ensure latest revision is used. Responsible for accessing customer websites to determine if specification download is needed.
Maintains a working knowledge of customer requirements, company offered products and capabilities. Has knowledge of safety policies and regulations, ensuring duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
