Hiscox USA was established in 2006 to focus primarily on the needs of small and middle market commercial clients, via both the broker and direct distribution channels. It is headquartered in New York City and is today the fastest-growing business unit within the Hiscox Group.
Today, Hiscox USA has a talent force of about 350 employees mostly operating out of 5 major cities - New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Role, Team & Responsibilities:
What is the role:
The Actuarial Analyst will report to the Business Unit Actuary and will be responsible for supporting all actuarial processes as identified by the Business Unit Actuary on behalf of Hiscox USA (excluding Pricing). This includes all aspects associated with reserving, forecasting, reinsurance and capital modeling. The Actuarial Analyst will be an integral part of the Finance team, interacting with business leaders, actuaries and finance professionals.

The ideal candidate will embrace the team?s objectives and actively seek out opportunities to improve existing processes and provide innovative ways to deliver analysis and insight, while adhering to controls and best practices and ensuring transparency and excellent communication with all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the annual forecasting process for US, coordinating with business leaders and actuaries to determine expected profitability and risk associated with the business
Support the quarterly reserving by ensuring efficient process, adherence to controls and best practices, and coordination with the finance team to promote transparency around reserves
Perform analysis on different sectors of the business to identify trends and provide insight to management
Work with the capital modeling team to ensure the capital model reflects the nature of the US business and the level of capital is optimized
Assist with the analysis and design of reinsurance solutions
Operate as an effective team member by supporting colleagues and contributing in the delivery of overall team and business objectives
Requirements:
Working knowledge of reserving, statistical modelling, capital modelling and reinsurance concepts
Strong analytical, technical and communication skills
ACAS or strong progress on actuarial exams preferred, but not required
2-5 years related experience
Strong understanding of P&C Insurance operations and accounting
Bachelor?s degree in a related field
Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize
Ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal parties throughout the organization
Preferred:
Experience with advanced reserving techniques, predictive analytics, leveraging external data
Computer skills:
ResQ, Advanced Microsoft Excel including VBA, SQL, R, ReMetrica modelling tool, Microsoft office
Education:
Bachelor?s Degree in related field
Progress on the actuarial exam track preferred, but not required
Experience:
2-5 years in P&C insurance or equivalent business experience
