Corporate Accountant Job Opening in Sandersville, Georgia - Thiele Kaolin Company, a world leader in kaolin production, seeks a Corporate Accountant for the Accounting Department, located in Sandersville, Georgia.
MAJOR DUTIES:
Assist with preparation of monthly and quarterly financial report for Thiele Kaolin Company as directed by supervisor.*
Responsible for the monthly and quarterly financial reporting process and report for Thiele Kaolin of Wisconsin (a subsidiary)* *
Responsible for the following general accounting duties:
Post general journal entries as well as recurring and allocating entries.
Maintain various general ledger supporting schedules and spreadsheets.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel
Knowledge of access database for query and report writing purposes.* *
Perform various other accounting support tasks and special projects as assigned by the Controller or VP of Finance and Treasurer including but not limited to the following:
Financial statement ratio analysis
Assist with physical inventory counts and prepare accompanying support spreadsheets
Product costing evaluation/support
Monthly inventory valuation and adjustments for variances as needed* *
Serve as backup for Controller* *
Provide to audit personnel* *
Prepare documentation for annual insurance renewal including value worksheets* *
Prepare reconciliations for balance sheet accounts* *
Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts and assist with correspondence of results to appropriate personnel* *
Reconcile bank statements and accounts payable/receivable control accounts to subsidiary ledgers* *
Review all uncleared checks and initiate replacement process as needed. Assist Controller with completion of Unclaimed Property reporting* *
Prepare government reports in accordance with deadlines*
SKILL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
College diploma or university degree with an emphasis in accounting or finance is preferred
Two to three years of comparable experience in accounting or finance
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferrable
