Production Manager Job Opening in McAlester, Oklahoma - Job Description: The ideal candidate for this position will have 15-20 years of experience in plant/production management.
The Production Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient day-to-day operation of the Engineering, Production, Maintenance and HSE teams at our Plant in McAlester, Oklahoma . Efficient operation means delivering a quality product, while optimizing costs, ensuring a safe work environment, and complying with all environmental permit conditions for all employees and contractors. The production manager directly supervises the Plant Engineers, Maintenance Manager, HSE Manager, Shift Supervisors, and the Plant Administrator.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage the day-to-day operation and production of the Guardian, regeneration, and Dash Q production lines including the waste water pre-treatment operations .
Ensure quality product is delivered that meets all specifications as dictated in the customer?s order.
Works in tandem with Sales and Customer Service team to schedule all customer jobs, and updates that schedule as needs change; ensure a production schedule that not only meets customer?s delivery needs, but also creates the most efficient operating configuration for the plant production team, while providing a quality product.
Maintains frequent communications with Customer Service to provide job updates and ensure constant communication on progress of current, upcoming and closed jobs.
Maintains a constant pulse on the progress of any active jobs in the Plant and works in conjunction with HSE to ensure that all work being done is in compliance with all local, state or federal laws. Is prepared to stop work on any unit if HSE violations arise.
Ensure all new shift Operators are properly trained by managing the new hire training process; ensure consistent tracking of progress of new shift Operators.
Manage the succession plan for A & B Operators by offering and managing Operator tests and creating succession plans for potential Shift Supervisors.
Manage the training process and succession planning for any Shift Supervisors who have possibility of potential growth with us.
Be a key contributor on special projects and capital projects as assigned and provide significant input into the formulation of the annual capital plan for the plant.
Balance preventative maintenance needs with the uptime required to meet business demands.
Represent the production team in daily plant production meeting.
Be a key contributor to creating a safe working environment. Do this by attending and facilitating, as needed, the weekly Plant Safety meeting.
Be proactive in scheduling equipment downtime as needed to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Plant.
Work in partnership with the company management team on ERP implementation.
Work in conjunction with HR to ensure the consistent performance management of all direct and indirect reports; commit to fairly utilizing the performance management process whenever possible.
Be a key hiring manager in the process of hiring both Operators and Shift Supervisors; fully participate in the interview process for any of these position openings, as well as with any position as requested by HR or the Executive VP.
Coordinate the acquisition of any supplies needed for the completion of catalyst lots. This includes, but is not limited to: packaging and chemical purchases .
Partners with Warehouse Manager to ensure all products are ready when order comes available to run; also provides order completion updates to Warehouse Manager as needed to ensure timely shipment of completed jobs.
Maintain consistent communication with all departments and notify all necessary managers when a unit is not running or must be shut down.
Show effective decision making skills by shutting down units and maintaining production schedule when necessary.
Works in partnership with Plant Engineer on day-to-day treatment of Guardian lots.
Has primary involvement in any technical or Quality Safety Engineering projects as they arise in the Plant.
Demonstrate a creative ability to modify the production schedule as needed to accommodate the customer needs in the most efficient way the production team can handle the changes, while consistently producing quality work.
Contributes to budgeting and forecasting discussions on an as needed basis.
Creates and maintains any production reports for the regeneration area as requested by the senior management team.
Completes material balances for all regeneration jobs and works with the Plant Engineers to do the same for Guardian, and Dash Q jobs.
Works with accounting to reconcile utilities on a monthly basis.
Maintain positive working relationships with suppliers and vendors that service with us.
Partner with Sales and Customer Service for the overall success of customer site visits that include but are not limited to: Plant site tours, and customer troubleshooting and production meetings upon visit to our Plant.
