POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing coding and compliance support to Physicians, Mid-Level Providers, medical support staff, billing department staff and administration.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
-Review, code and/or audit medical diagnosis and E&M coding for all Horizon medical healthcare providers.
-Report on the accuracy of procedural coding, E&M Coding and ICD-9/ICD-10 coding and billing to ensure compliance with legal and procedural policies.
-Identify inaccurate coding processes; prepare reports of findings and meet with providers and medical office staff to provide education and training on accurate coding practices and compliance issues.
-Assist with development of policies, procedures and workflow documents related to medical record documentation and coding.
-Assists in training personnel in correct documentation processes and coding guidelines.
-Assist the Billing & Collection Department with posting payments, posting charge batches, working with insurance companies on claim reimbursement issues, working with patient accounts, processing sliding fee applications etc. and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or the equivalent and Certification with the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) is required. Preference will be given to individuals with extensive knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT-4, HCPCS Level II, medical terminology and electronic medical record systems.
TRAVEL
Occasional travel may be required to work with staff at all Horizon Health Care clinic locations as well as any travel required for continued education purposes.
SKILLS
Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work in fast paced office environment.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Electronic Medical Records Software programs and knowledge of PC?s, laptops, printers, scanners, required. Page 2 of 2

WORK ENVIRONMENT Employee generally works within the interior of a healthcare clinic or office environment. Employee may travel locally between multiple worksites and be responsible for own transportation. Out of area travel may be required on occasion. Hours of operation and specific staff scheduling may vary between worksite based on operation need. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
