Staff Accountant Job Opening in Butte, Montana - The National Affordable Housing Network (NAHN) operates self-help and contractor-built programs in its headquarters area of Butte MT and Southwest Montana, serving partner families who are attempting build their own homes. NAHN partners with Habitat for Humanity of Southwest Montana and Imagine Butte collaborative organizations to redevelop neighborhoods through home ownership. The Staff Accountant is responsible for routine non-profit accounting functions, financial reporting, database management, systems organization, audit preparation, project accounting, grant reporting, compliance, and payroll and benefits.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare financial reports for leadership and board members.
Assist with Job-Costing of construction projects and monitor progress.
Process payroll and manage benefits system.
Work with Executive Director to maintain grant compliance.
Communicate with audit firm and prepare information for yearly audit report.
Work with team to automate processes and reports for more efficient work flow.
Maintain and prepare reports as requested.
Work on special projects as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 5 years? accounting experience required.
BA in accounting preferred or equivalent experience with AA
Non-profit accounting experience very helpful.
Good understanding of accounting terminology and functions including preparing, entering and understanding journal entries.
Able to work proficiently in Microsoft Office programs with intermediate excel skills.
Experience with Quickbooks very helpful.
Experience in construction job costing helpful
Excellent organization, oral and written communication skills
Ability to take direction, meet time-lines and work on a multitude of projects at one time
Strong work ethic with a high level of integrity both in and out of work environment
