Rooms Division Director Job Opening in Garden City, Idaho - The Riverside Hotel is currently accepting applications for a Food and Beverage Director:
Position: Rooms Division Manager
Reports To: General Manager
Purpose of the Position: To administer, direct and control the operations of the Front Office, Housekeeping and Laundry, Reservations and Pantry at a resort standard.
Essential Responsibilities:
-Interviews and hires all managers in the Rooms Division Departments.
-Trains all managers in the Rooms Division Departments to ensure effective service to the guests.
-Approves all Rooms Division reviews, job transfers, disciplinary procedures, counseling sessions and terminations.
-Has complete understanding of all Rooms Division staff's job descriptions and duties and is able to perform duties at any given time. This should include proficiency in the hotel's Property Management System and POS.
-Ensures Rooms Division Departments have adequate tools to do their jobs.
-Conducts frequent inspections to guest rooms, public areas and Rooms Division outlets to ensure quality in all areas.
-Coordinates special programs, functions and incentives to improve guest service.
-Handles or assists with any guest related complaints and/or comments as well as coordinates the proper follow up.
-Works with the General Manager, Front Office Manager, Revenue Manager and Sales Managers to maximize room occupancy and rates.
-Ensures achievement of performance standards and objectives by instituting and administering guidelines to achieve objectives.
-Oversees the development of management and hourly associates and ensures training and guidance.
-Ensures hotel guests receive friendly and courteous service at all times.
-Gives directions to the hotel facilities, rooms and local attractions.
-Knows emergency procedures (fire, severe weather, bomb threats, guest illness, etc.)and ensures all rooms division staff members are consistently trained in such procedures.
-Ensures consistent communication between Rooms Division departments and other departments of the hotel.
-Understands the night audit procedures and is capable of working night audit if necessary.
-Prepares all financial related documents.
-Works with accounting to prepare fiscal and capital budgets for all of the Rooms Division Department.
-Works in close cooperation with Accounting Department to ensure proper controls and adheres to prescribed accounting systems.
-Reviews property's accounts receivable with accounting to ensure collections of monies.
-Provides accounting with labor forecasts and actual dollars spent
-Completes purchase orders and ensures accuracy of the check books for the Rooms Division departments.
-Ensures the consistent appearance of Rooms Division staff members in accordance to uniform and grooming policies. Selects, sources and budgets for appropriate coordination of uniforms.
Minimum qualifications:
-Must have at least two years of current hotel management experience with similar responsibilities.
-Strong background in customer service.
-Must have an effective management style and ability to develop and maintain effective guest relations.
-Must be able to effectively manage multi-departmental operations.
-Must have strong communication, organizational, and training skills as well as the ability to motivate others.
-Must be able to work with limited supervision and have a strong commitment to the guest.
-Must have strong leadership skills and able to motivate and lead diverse groups of people.
-Must be flexible in scheduling including nights, weekends, and holidays.
-Must be computer literate in Microsoft Office products and other programs.
-Bachelor's degree in business, hotel/motel management preferred.
-Must be able to lift and carry 20lbs, with frequent walking, standing, sitting, smiling talking and listening skills.
