THE POSITION: Senior Software Developer

The position will report directly to the CTO in the interim and will be part of the Development team responsible for developing and improving our website, showroom and corporate applications for The Shade Store. The role requires strong technical skills, and good communication skills for collaboration with the rest of the development team, IT Product Management and QA teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work closely with the product team and shared development resources across all phases of projects
Write ?clean?, well designed code
Produce detailed specifications
Troubleshoot, test and maintain the core product software and databases to ensure strong optimization and functionality
Contribute in all phases of the development life-cycle
Follow industry best practices
Develop and deploy new features to facilitate related procedures and tools if necessary
Forecast resource needs based upon the project road-map
Provide guidance and leadership to other developers
Rapidly develop proof of concepts to demonstrate proposed solutions to key decision makers
Document all development activities in accordance with the company best practices
Perform other duties as they arise
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject, or equivalent experience
A minimum 6-8 years of solid web development experience using LAMP stack technologies in a professional environment using object oriented and MVC design
Demonstrated knowledge of modern SDLC, Agile/Scrum, Kanban etc.
Understanding of CVS workflows, primarily GIT
Extensive PHP (5.5+) experience with MySQL and Apache
Familiarity with one or more PHP frameworks
Strong front-end JavaScript, jQuery as well as other libraries or frameworks and CSS/Sass knowledge
Smarty, Handlebars or other template frameworks
Experience with RESTful API design, development and consumption using JSON and XML
Passion for best design and coding practices and a desire to develop new bold ideas
Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and priorities
Sharp attention to detail
Strong communication skills with the ability to cross collaborate amongst internal departments
Comfortable using and developing with a Mac
Good experience and comfort level with Linux
Self-motivated and willing to "do what it takes" to get the job done
NICE TO HAVES:
Understanding of virtual machines
Experience with AWS
Ansible or other server recipe technologies
MySQL tuning
Server clustering
Significant experience with automated unit testing
