Financial Policy Analyst Job Opening in Tacoma, Washington - Who we are:

Position Responsibilities:
(a) develop a Medicaid nursing facility data base using available cost report data and prepare various financial models showing estimated impact of proposed legislation or other to the current nursing facility payment system;
(b) at the request of LeadingAge Washington members, review and recommend modifications to members? financial reports, including Medicaid and Medicare reports consistent with federal and state law and in coordination with LeadingAge Washington accounting associate business members;
(c) develop management reports for members using available financial data to identify potential areas to improve payment and operating efficiencies and/or effectiveness;
(e) analyze, respond to, educate and disseminate information on financial issues and payment methodologies affecting skilled nursing facility and assisted living communities; and
(f) make financial policy recommendations to support access to and the provision of quality care and services in member communities.
This individual will provide expertise to member organizations, as well as to the LeadingAge Washington staff to understand the changing revenue and system designs, and provide direction in how best to create meaningful, collaborative approaches that can address payment, quality and ?value-add? of the full spectrum of aging services. This individual will assist in analysis of proposed regulations and legislative initiatives, and track and analyze national and state trends in long term services and supports financing and quality to assess impact on LeadingAge Washington members. This individual will report to the Chief Executive Officer.
Position requirements:
BA/BS degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or related field.
Proficiency in developing dashboards, graphs, charts and portal interfaces. Strong analytical Excel skills including pivot tables, vlookup and advanced functions knowledge. Knowledge of Access is a plus.
One to two years of professional experience in the field of health policy or aging services is preferred.
Preferred candidate qualifications include experience with state government budgeting practices or the state legislature on fiscal matters. A working knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulatory process is a plus.
A successful candidate must have an aptitude for or possess strong management and policy analysis skills; oral and written communication and presentation skills; and the ability to translate technical payment, regulatory and legislative issues into understandable concepts and languages for policy makers and LeadingAge Washington members. Local and national overnight travel is periodically required.
